Currency Trading Interactive Brokers LLC

Interactive Brokers

Interactive Brokers LLC is a U.S.-based brokerage firm. It is often best known for its trader workstation, API's, and low margins. It operates the largest electronic trading platform in the U.S. by number of daily average revenue trades. The company brokers stocks, options, futures, EFPs, futures options, forex, bonds, and funds.

Navigating Interactive Brokers forex platform.

I opened an account with IB because of there enticing spread structure, fast execution, etc. I'm coming from trading with FXCM. I feel like an idiot, the charting is terrible, I can't figure out how to properly set trades or get really anything to work the way I want it too.
I definitely want something aesthetically pleasing and easy to use, but obviously having low trading costs is extremely important. Am I SOL trying to learn this, or is there some sort of GUI I can overlay on top of this or something?

Interactive Brokers: Brexit account migration = insurance drops from 500k USD to 20k EUR

Is anyone else concerned about this? They are migrating from UK to Hungary, Ireland or Luxembourg: https://ibkr.info/node/3515
Main reason I used IB was safety/regulation. After this migration we lose FSCS & SIPC protection, compensation will be the same as e.g. DeGiro or Trading 212 (20k EUR), for me there is no point to stay on IB any longer as I much prefer Trading 212's modern platform. What are your thoughts?
In 2018 IBKR established Interactive Brokers Luxembourg SARL (“IBLUX”) which received regulatory authorization in November 2019. In addition, we are in the process of creating two additional brokers based in the European Union: Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited (“IBIE”) and Interactive Brokers Central Europe Befektetési ZRt (“IBCE”).
We expect the majority of the clients based in Western Europe will be migrated to IBIE, those in Central and Eastern Europe to IBCE and a select group of clients to IBLUX.
Currently, provided they meet eligibility requirements, IBUK clients may be protected in relation to investment services under the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (“UK FSCS”) at an amount of up to £50,000. As IBUK clients are carried by our US broker, IBL, the securities segment of their account may be eligible for insurance by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (“SIPC”) at an amount of up to USD 500,000.
Under the EU Brokers IBLUX, IBIE and IBCE eligible claimants may be entitled to claim compensation up to a maximum of EUR 20,000.
Later update - currently for IBUK, the protection amount depends on what you are trading with:
As a side note, in their article they state £50,000 FSCS protection, but that's just outdated. It's been increased to £85,000 since April 2019 - fscs.org.uk/media/press/2019/aphigher-protection-limits.

Help with buying in the UK?

Hi all
I wanted to invest in MindMed and Numi via Interactive Brokers/DIGERO but from what I can see, there is a minimum amount for buying on each platform?
IB says they want 2000 USD minimum and DIGERO's conversion seems off (almost double the share price) so I'm a bit stuck
Also, are these the only places I can buy at the moment? My plan is to buy about £500's worth of shares for each company (market order but unsure if i should do a different order since my plan is to buy and hold long term)
I've traded forex before and have investments in ETF"s but I've not really invested in stocks that much before so any help would be much appreciated.
Some backstory: my first psilocybin trip literally saved my life 2 and a half years ago. I've used it ever since and its helped me heal from decades of trauma. I also found out in my 20's I have ADHD so also have hopes for LSD mdsing. I truly believe in the power of psychedelics. Again, they actually saved my life. I want to be a part of this change in the world. We need it.
Thanks!

What is the best way to invest in index funds and ETFs while living in Germany?

Background: My wife and I live in Germany. She is a EU citizen and I'm American. The account would be in her name to make things easier tax wise. We're interested in investing in index funds and ETFs. We're trying to decide on a platform to go with but are having trouble figuring out the best option for us. Ideally we'd like a platform that offers a wide selection of ETFs and index funds, but it does not need to offer FOREX, cryptocurrency, etc.
Which potential option would you recommend for our situation? It'd be nice to hear anyone's feedback who has used any of these platforms.
  1. Fonds Spärlane or Savings plan - The DKB Sparpläne https://www.dkb.de/privatkunden/wertpapiersparen/fonds/. This seems like a good option. They have a decent selection of products and offer the ability to automatically purchase into a fund/ETF each month. Since they are a German Bank they have to offer tax forms as well, which makes life easier.
  2. International Broker - Interactive Brokers or Fidelity International. We don't have 100k to invest so I don't think IB is the right option due to the 10 euro per month fee. Fidelity Int'l has a wide selection but I need to do more research to see what tax info they provide.
  3. German Broker - I haven't come across one that I'm crazy about yet so any recommendations would be helpful.
  4. German Depot Konto - Commerzbank https://www.commerzbank.de/portal/de/privatkunden/sparen-anlegen/produkte/depotmodelle/depot-eroeffnen/depot-eroeffnen.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5Kv7BRBSEiwAXGDElRF5GnUm8exUdl4NjmQ5eT3lBc6ypA4Xhmc_rn4Dclfs9oRlm8o3ZRoCnysQAvD_BwE. We're already customers there so it would be easy to setup an account. The costs here seem quite high and I don't know yet what kind of product range they offer.

Background: I posted this question on /eupersonalfinance https://www.reddit.com/eupersonalfinance/comments/iy7ay6/what_is_the_best_way_to_invest_in_index_funds_and/ and they said I should post here as well. I've made some changes to the question after more research.

We tried setting up an account with DKB since we read and heard good things about them and their Sparpläne is a solid price. Our account was rejected so we contacted customer service for their help. To put it nicely their customer service is terrible and we've decided to continue our search for a different company.

APIs offered by brokers and data platforms

I’ve been looking for a broker that has an API for index futures and ideally also futures options. I’m looking to use the API to build a customized view of my risk based on balances, positions, and market conditions.
Searching the algotrading sub I found many API-related posts, but then when I actually read them and their comments, I found they’re often lacking in real substance. It turns out many brokers or data services that have APIs don’t actually support index futures and options via the API, and instead they focus on equities, forex, or cypto. So here’s the list of what I’ve found so far. This isn’t a review of these brokers or APIs and note that I have a specific application in mind (index futures and futures options). Perhaps you’re looking for an API for equities, or you just want data and not a broker, in which case there may be a few options. Also, I’m based in the US so I didn’t really look for brokers or platforms outside the US.
If you have experience with these APIs, please chime in with your thoughts. Also, I may have missed some brokers or platforms. If I did or if you see anything that needs correction please let me know.

Is Interactive Brokers the only place I can trade options through an API?

I'm a long time day trader who works as a software engineer. I'm hoping to finally merge these two passions, but finding the options for algotrading API's are really lacking. I looked into the following...
My question to all of you: What platform/services are you using to algotrade? What's your stack? What options did I miss? Is it really this bad?
I'm going to wait and try out IB, but I'm genuinely considering building my own platform using NASDAQ Total View but it's expensive and I feel like there must be an easier way. Thanks for your input.
Yes, I read the wiki.

Look-it: FOREX TRADING DASHBOARD IN NOTION + CTRADER EMBED
For forex traders out there, I've found that you can actually embed a web cTrader in Notion!
SIMPLE DARK MODE
SIMPLE LIGHT MODE
If you like my setup, BUY ME A COFFEE! 🎉. I'm dying for a good cup of store bought brewed coffee, not instant coffee from home. I would really appreciate your latte treat.
What are shown on the Long Version?
  1. various widgets on Tradingview.com
  2. interactive charting tool on Tradingview.com
  3. an actual CTRADER web platform inside notion! How cool is that!! I was mind blown when it showed in my page.
How to embed widgets?
  1. embed code from Tradingview.com
  2. add pen on codepen.io and paste in html section > save
  3. copy url in the search bar
  4. embed url in notion
  5. done
How to embed ctrader platform?
  1. log in to your ctrader platform according to your broker account
  2. embed url in Notion.so, either app or browser, log in again; and
  3. you're done!
What's good about this setup?
  1. i don't need to switch between windows to trade and analyze my charts
  2. i use gallery view on my Market Outlook table and setup my trades
  3. track my profits per day
I've really fallen real hard with Notion. 😭 Notion, you are so good to me. Once again, if you like my setup, BUY ME A COFFEE! 🎉. I'm dying for a good cup of store bought brewed coffee, not instant coffee from home. I would really appreciate your latte treat.
LONG VERSION: INCLUDING TRADINGVIEW WIDGETS

Ninjatrader - Selected Dorman, but now which broker for license key?

Having been approved by Dorman and receiving the green light to fund a Ninjatrader8 account, I now must purchase a license key.
When purchasing the license key, I must once again select a broker. My options are:
"NinjaTrader Brokerage" "City Index" "FOREX.com" "FXCM (non-US)" "Interactive Brokers" "Oanda" "TD AMERITRADE" "Multi Broker (Includes all above)" "CQG (for existing customers only)"
I'm not really sure what I'm selecting at this stage. Is there any advantage between one and another? Does choosing something like "TD Ameritrade" change anything about the platform or chart-trading abilities I've gotten used to on the Ninjatrader Demo? Does Dorman fall under "NinjaTrader Brokerage"? Is it advantageous to select "Multi Broker" so that my trades can execute on any of the above brokerages, allowing for increased liquidity?

UK Plebs - what are you using *now* to get in on this?

aay.
The current consensus seems to be RH is awful and is in pre-release right now anyway - ameritrade doesn't appear to support non American peeps, and i'm very very leary of doing anything with Degiro without some more research. What do you use and why?
edit: After 1 week and £2,000,000 of money mangling:
IG went down twice, right when something valuable was happening. Also the API is broken. Get a general 'cheap goods' feel from them, and they don't support straight options trading
Trading212 is built on AWS and is tangibly better performing. The UI for desktop is a bit too javascripty with flashy effects and there's a general feeling it was designed mobile first, but I have to admit it's quite pleasant to use. Plan to look at the API at some point.
Edit 2:
InteractiveBrokers gave me an account up to a point but I'm too poor to qualify for their services according to their regulations section. Need $40k+ liquidity to your name before they'll look at you.
Plus500 is nice, if a bit basic and clunky to get started, but the only options trading it offers is CFD which defeats the purpose - at least for me.
Ava Trade is very very 1990's looking for the web platform and the demo only offers forex.
Edit 3:
Ameritrade rejects UK applicants after you've given them your info.
Tradestation does not support any UK banks for initial funding out of the box - waiting for contact.
Bit the bullet and going with Degiro - currently inundated with new applications so _10 days_ delay expected.
Still looking for an actual options broker ;\

Personal Experience: Change brokerage from RBC&TD to interactive broker

I just want to share my personal experience change brokerage from RBC&TD to interactive broker since late 2019. I found interactive broker much better than TD/RBC for my US equity investment. I invest predominantly in US stocks, including Canadian companies dual listed in NYSE/NASDAQ.
Some of the big Pros:
  1. Very low commission compared to RBC/TD. 1USD for fixed pricing, 0.35 for tired pricing.
  2. Participation in pre-market and after-market. This help me to fill my aggressive limit order.
  3. USD/CAD forex is 2USD, even cheaper than Nombert Gambit.
  4. Fractional shares allow me to invest in Google/Amazon/Tesla in a more reasonable pace.(buy 500 dollars for four times vs buy 2000 at one time)
Some Cons:
  1. They have several platforms which is very confusing. TWS is most powerful but look ugly on Mac. Client portal is nice looking but function-lacking. I actually found IBKR IOS to be powerful but also nice looking, so end up mostly use IBKR IOS.
  2. Be careful using EFT deposit. There is a 60 business day holding period if withdrawal to a different bank.
  3. One might need to spend some time research on their fee structure, deposit/withdrawal procedure.
I have ignored IB for years due to it being an American brokerage and do not have physical locations. Finally tried it and now think it is the best for US equity investment in Canada. Hopefully if we move more investment to online brokerage such as Questrade/IB/Wealthsimple, eventually will shake the big 5 and force them to lower their ridiculous commission.(It is still nice to have one of the big 5 for some portfolio.)

Malaysia To Impose Restrictions On Cash Transactions The Malaysian government plans to impose restrictions on cash transactions reports local media platform The Star. According to the publication, the move is part of efforts to combat money laundering in the country. Commenting on the plan, Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, the deputy governor of Malaysia’s Central Bank Negara (BNM), remarked: “This is to address the abuse of physical cash used for illicit activities.” Malaysian economist, Barjoyai Bardai believes the proposed cash transaction limit in the country could boost digital currency adoption.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down nearly 5% at its current price of $8,850, which marks a notable drop from its 24-hour highs of $9,300.
Prior to today’s drop, Bitcoin has been caught in a relatively tight trading range between $9,000 and $9,500 for a couple of weeks, and neither bulls nor bears had been able to incur enough strength to push the crypto out of this trading range until early this morning when bears forced it below its lower range boundary at $9,000.
In the time since its drop, BTC has shown no sign of slowing its decent, as it continued to slowly grind lower as the morning dragged on.

Choosing the right broker

Hello!
I am ready to dive in the world of trading and after my basic education I am starting to pappertrade. I figured out that I sould choose from now the boroker I am gonna use in the future to get used to the platform. The problem is that there are WAY to many brokers out there and its hard to choose. I need your help reddit!

What I need:
- I am mainly gonna daytrade forex, maybe some stocks and futures at the future.
- Low commisions, fees & spreads! I'm thikning of taking trades on small timeframes (5-20 mins , or a few hours). I am looking for a true ECN with comission model. I dont want conflict of interests with my broker
- A good platform. I don't like MT4. I liked cTrader.
- No requotes - No slippage - Fast executions!
- Leverage. I need at least 1:200 , so I probably need a broker in Australia (?)
- No problems with withdrawals.
- Regulation and good reputation! I don't want to loose my money!
- Low minimum deposit! I'm thinking about starting with 1000 euros, maybe 2000 max.

Brokers I have found surfing the net:
- Interactive Brokers
- Saxo bank
- IG
- Dukascopy
and the cTrader brokers:
- IC markets
- Pepperstone
- FxPro
- Roboforex

What do you guys think? Have you got any experience with those guys? What would you suggest? All comments and extra info are welcome!

[FAQ] Oyster - Read Here First

Updated June 28, 2018
Q: "What phase of development is the project currently in?" A: We released our mainnet beta! Test it here: https://oysterstorage.com/. Currently a 25MB file size limit.
Join our Discussion on: Oyster Protocol (Telegram) Oyster Trading (Telegram) ☆공식☆오이스터 한국 채팅방~ (KakaoTalk)
Quick explanation: -Oyster is unique because it enables an anonymous and decentralized user-friendly way to implement both its revenue generation (only have to add a line of code), and file storage. While the floor value is pegged to the value of storage it provides. Oyster allows websites to have their own financial autonomy by not relying on monolithic advertising platforms like Google and Facebook. Any of these platforms can bully a website due to political motivations, whilst the advertisements themselves are rarely assertion-neutral.
Q: "How to add the PRL custom token to your wallet?" A: Contract Address: 0x1844b21593262668B7248d0f57a220CaaBA46ab9 Symbol: PRL Decimals: 18
Q: "How to add the SHL custom token to your wallet?" A: Contract Address: 0x8542325b72c6d9fc0ad2ca965a78435413a915a0 Symbol: SHL Decimals: 18
Q: “What makes Oyster Unique?” A: Oyster is the first solution to ever: 1. Guarantee 100% that uploaded data is not leaked, no need to blindly trust a binary executable. 2. Have it’s value pegged to something tangible and valuable (storage) in a decentralized way. Every other peg of value was centralized and hence fell apart, think about how the dollar used to be pegged to gold. 3. Allow websites and apps to earn revenue in a decentralized way, no political leverage or TOS from monolithic advertising platforms. This is a game changer for investigative journalism and similiar efforts.
Q: "Can Oyster work on insert platform here" A: Yes, anything where you can run javascript. Oyster can be installed even in smartphones apps and your fridge if we have time later.
Q: "What phase of development is the project currently in?" A: Test Net A has completed! The project is currently developing the Test Net B.
Q: "When will Oyster be listed on more exchanges?" A: There are talks with many exchanges at this moment. Information on what exchanges will not be released until we have confirmation from the exchange.
Q: “What is the total supply?” A: The hard cap defined during the ICO was 500,000,000. During that time a total of 108,592,692 were minted. On March 1, 2018 10,000,000 tokens were burned. The new total supply is 98,592,692. The dualsig-wallet of the development fund can be found here:
Q: “Can this be blocked by AdBlock or similar? A: Yes. All scripts can be stopped from running on a webpage. Oyster offers an alternative to ads which could potentially be malicious, and or be visually disruptive to the user. While also reducing storage costs. Oyster allows websites to have their own financial autonomy by not relying on monolithic advertising platforms like Google and Facebook. Any of these platforms can bully a website due to political motivations, whilst the advertisements themselves are rarely assertion-neutral.
Q: “Will 1 Pearl always equal X GB/Year of storage?” A: No, There are two options, that it increases (permanently) in storage peg according to the amount of PRL that is used for storage, or it increases (permanently) according to the linear passage of time.
Q: “What exchanges is Oyster currently listed on? A: Currently listed onBitForex, EtherDelta, Kucoin, CoinExchange and CryptopiaThere are talks with many exchanges at this moment. BitForex was the latest exchange to announce trading of Pearl on 6/27/18.
Q: “Do I have to pay to access the data I have paid to store?” A: No, you can retrieve your data whenever you want for free.
Q: “Where is the data I uploaded stored?” A: Data is stored on the IOTA Tangle. This allows safe storage and the ability for at the moment several hundred users to simultaneously download that file at the same time without slowdowns.
Q: "What if IOTA fails?" A: Worst case scenario is we fork the iri software and run our own Tangle.
Q: “Could this lead to legal trouble? i.e The Cookie Law..” A: Oyster will provide a small notice of consent with a button to disable the PoW. Similar to the “Cookie Consent Notices.” Desktop Version Mobile Version
Q: “Will Oyster slowdown my computer?” A: No, if the browser is starting to struggle a bit, the javascript will detect the performance in real time and govern the PoW so that it does not burden the browser or become sluggish.
Q: Why not take payments in iotas, why fragment the ecosystem with PRL? A: The PRL token has unique functions in the smart contract that allows the Oyster network to operate. Oyster nodes will invoke the smart contract bury() function, which locks the PRL into a slow-release state. Other nodes hunt for the PRL with the claim() function, but because of the contract are only permitted to take a limited amount over time on a first-come first-serve basis. The private keys to the Ethereum addresses that hold the buried PRL are floating around on the tangle, like a massive treasure-hunt. So these two functions claim() and bury() are the primary reason why an ERC20 token was used.
Q: "Unethical Use of Web Storage?" A: While we understand that the potential to store vulgar material is available. All of the data is encrypted and unable to be read by anyone. So there is no way you could potentially get in legal trouble. If you are running an IOTA node you store a fraction of what is needed to complete that file. And only the uploader has access to it. I appreciate your concern again but this is illogical in my opinion. The data is completely encrypted. And spread out across the tangle. Oyster Pearl does not condone any disgusting activities that may occur. But we are just the tool. Almost everything can be used in a way people do not like.
Q: "Can a file be removed period? And can it be removed only by person uploading?" A: No. Once you upload a file and pay a number (or a fraction) of PRL to keep it uploaded for X amount of time, it'll exist in the Tangle until that amount of time passes. No one - not the Oyster team, not the uploader, and certainly no government - can take down the file. The only way for that specific file to disappear from the tangle is for the whole Oyster network (both the Broker nodes and web nodes) to go down for an extended amount of time.
Once the network is live this is considered an extremely unlikely event, so for all intents and purposes, you can consider the file irremovable.
Q: "Do you guys see data limits set by mobile phone providers and even ISPs like Comcast affecting whether or not people choose to do the PoW? Or does the PoW take up an insignificant amount of data?" A: Both the IOTA PoW (needed to keep the data on the tangle) and the Oyster PoW (needed to find buried pearls) occur on the device (the webnode) itself. The only interaction with the network occurs when the broker node offers the genesis hash, when it sends the transactions to validate to the webnodes and when those send proof of the PoW done.
All in all, the data usage should be minimal.
Q: "Data storage linked to "Know your customer" (KYC)? A: Never associated, only the storage user knows both the eth address receiving the PRL and the handle. Broker node knows the eth address but not the handle.
Q: "Can files be removed? And can it be removed only by the person that uploaded it? A: No.
Once the network is live this is considered an extremely unlikely event, so for all intents and purposes, you can consider the file unremovable.
Q: "What if I pay storage for 1 year, and next year I do not pay? Do I lose my files? A: When you pay for X amount of data to be stored for Y amount of time, you simply ensure that the data will be safe for Y amount of time. Nobody can modify or delete this data, not even the person who uploaded it.
After Y amount of time, the data will no longer be reattached to the tangle, so it'll stay there until it gets pruned off as the nodes get to their full capacity and are forced to delete old transactions.
Basically, you pay for it to last 1 year (or 2, or 3, etc.). You can be assured the file will still be there all the time you pay for. Additionally, it's possible you may be able to retrieve it after that, but you're no longer assured that it'll be there.
Q: "Can you make changes to a file already uploaded?" A: Not in the base protocol. Once you pay for a file to stay in the tangle for 1 year it's going to be there - with no modifications allowed - no matter what.
After the base protocol is finished a wrapper will be developed that'll handle directories, file versioning, etc.

Qash being listed on Bitfinex, Binance and Bithumb

READ THIS FIRST PLEASE!
My goal here is to make you aware of the project. I couldnt care less if you invest or not, its going to attract institutional money just like Ripple did. (Softbank, Goldman Sach, Morgan Chase, PWC, VISA, Forex brokers - all these companies are strongly tied to this platform)
Qash is also being referred as the bankers coin. Qash has solved the biggest issue for crypto to go mainstream, it lets users buy crypto from all over the world with the currency of their choice. Its implenting the worldbook on all the major exchanges and giving users the best possible price. Its regulated by the Japanese government, which makes the project even more impressive.
How Qash describes its project:
‘LIQUIDITY, the lifeblood of every industry, is the single most important element lacking in the crypto economy today.’
The only available resources of liquidity are siloed across:
• Developed markets that have standalone exchanges operating in closed pools of liquidity, which are not available to non-residents.
• Emerging markets which are underserved with illiquid local currencies that must interact with bigger liquidity pools to utilize crypto tokens in their home currencies.
Solution: LIQUID Platform
QUOINE is launching a single globally-sourced trading platform (World Book) with an associated suite of services (Prime Brokerage) that brings together the entire global network of cryptocurrency exchanges to enable the highest level of liquidity to all markets.
Do a quick research on their team/background and you will be impressed. One of founders of Qash is Mike Kayamore; former Vice President of Softbank.
Qash will be listed is now trading on Qryptos but will soon be listed on major exchanges such as Bitfinex, Binance and even Bithumb.
Japans Richest man is one of the Qash investors; link below has a quick breakdown of Taizo Son.Mike Kayamore and Taizo Son both mentioned in the article below.
Ladies and gentleman, this is one of the biggest projects crypto has witnessed and is exactly what we need to get crypto mainstream. Financial institutions are getting involved with Qash and will make this a multi billion marketcap very soon.
DYOR and let me know below what you guys think.
Coinmarketcap hasnt updated yet but as soon as they do Qash will most likely end up in the top 30 instantly. And again it will be listed on Bitfinex Dec 1st and is now available on Qryptos.

[Serious] I'm done with RH tendies boys, I'm ready to upgrade to a real broker...buuuut...

...which one?
Now, I've been shopping around a little bit, and understand enough of the markets to have narrowed down my picks to USAA, IB, and Optionhouse, but I'm looking to see if anyone has some experience with the advantages and disadvantages of the platforms, and what I should be considering before I take the plunge off the peir.
1) USAA. Commission is pretty gnarley, but through family assistance, I will be trading at the reduced commission rate of ~$6 pretty consistantly. Gives advance currency exchanges for trading foreign companies, and seems to have a competent, if not exactly sleek UI. Can't figure out how to access options on it though. I'm told they have very good fulfillment and instantanious placement times for orders, but I'm not sure how relevant that is.
2) Interactive Brokers: Lowest comissions of the 3, until I start playing with bigboys numbers, and won't need y'alls advisories, so don't worry about that. From what I can see, they're inconveniant as fuck, but you get what you don't pay for. I am <25, so I only need 3k to open an account with them, and that's not a problem. They don't do forex/futures (don't remember which), but that's fine cause I'm not interested in those yet.
3) Optionshouse: Somewhere between the previous two. Reasonable commission rates, very competative options trading rates, but not much said about them in the fors-or-againsts. Going into this one mostly blind.
Can anyone add any significant DDs on these brokers that I should be considering, or even feilding some of their own? I'm done with Robinhood and it's buggy piece of fuckery that not even an autistic faggot like me can abide.
(Don't worry about shitflinging, ima take everything in here with a mountain of salt. I just wanna hear peoples experiences/gripes about them)

Looking for trading platform with a public API

Hello
I'm a software developer new to investing. I have invested into an index but currently I'm interested in testing if I could develop swing trading strategies that are profitable in the long term. I'm thinking of starting with forex trading. My plan would be to create my own software that integrates into a trading platform so that I can easily generate charts that I need myself etc. I'm nowhere near ready to invest sufficient amounts of money yet, so I will be just backtesting and simulating trading for probably quite a while. Now I'm at the stage that I'm looking for a trading platform that would fill these requirements:
I have found TrueFX that offers forex data but heard their data might have some issues. Namely it lacks volume information and some data is missing. Interactive Broker's API seems good but they have a pretty high minimum balance requirement.
Thanks!

where can all currencies be traded?

I'm a forex newbie, I discovered that Interactive Brokers only supports a handful of currencies. Are all of the currencies listed here (http://currency.wiki/historical-rates?from=USD&date=2016-09-26) tradeable on any platform? Are they all liquid?
